SHE works hard for the money.....

Well this year was to be my "GOLDEN YEAR"...
According to Doug, this was to be my golden year, with staying home with the kids and not working. BUT-- My friend Lisa R. told me about a great opportunity/job that was open at the kids' school. The Lunch cashier was leaving and a replacement is needed. I thought about it ... going back and forth with what to do. My main concern was over who would be able to take care of Alex from 11:30 - 1:30. 2 hours really is not that long, but to be gone everyday-- I'm not sure he would like it. THANKFULLY, my mother in law (bless her heart) stepped up to the challenge and agreed to pick him up from school and keep him. Needless to say, ALEX is ecstatic that he gets to spend time with NANA, and I'm just as happy bringing in some extra Christmas cash! So, last Friday I filled out the online application with the school, had an interview on Wednesday, hired on Wednesday, started my first day on Thursday and was handed the "keys" today to make me the official "cashier".

How hard can it be???? I mean, come on, a cashier in the cafeteria... it's a cush job!!!! Let me just say, that by the time the breakfast kids came through the line and they were handing out hall passes-- I believe I had a little bit of sweat on my for head.-- and ya know, it could be because I'm over weight...or maybe a little bit of both. The first 2 weeks is going to be a little bit of a transition as I start to recognize faces with names. I also feel like I should take a beginning Spanish class so I can pronounce the little Mexican kids' names. Let me tell ya, some of those kids are the CUTEST little things- so tiny and they speak so soft.
Hopefully I can post in a few weeks that the job has turned into a cush job! Right now, it is getting high marks for 2 great benefits.... a free lunch for me ( hahahaha) and being home with the kids when they are! OH I just thought of another benefit... I don't have to wear a hair net or serve the lunches.. since that is the case...I wonder if I'm still considered a "lunch lady". :)

Could not be more proud.....

As Nick's football season comes to a close ( just a 6th grade game to go...) it was brought to our attention that Nick, along with fellow teamate Ben P- were nominated by their coaches for the Warsaw Young Tiger, David Fribley Award. I'm not sure how many kids were nominated but it is my understanding the winner will not be announced until Saturday Nov 1st. Even if Nick is not the winner of this award... we, as parents, could not be more proud. He is a special young man who continues to grow and amaze us with his abilities and talents. A description of the David Fribley award (how I understand it:)
It shall be the purpose of the athletes of Young Tiger Football & Cheerleading to promote and uphold a positive attitude, and to develop good sportsmanship by example. To be champions off the field and support good relations with the community, between teams and squads during competition. Alway's keeping in mind the Warsaw tradition of Son, Daughter, Student and Athlete, Forged by those who had come before.

Big Crumbs-- easy money saver

Every little bit helps, every snowflake gets caught! During the holiday season, I find myself selling and buying more things online. Be it from ebay, Amazon, Old Navy, Gap, Toys R us..etc.. I'm not big for malls during the holiday season and sometimes find it easier to shop from home while sipping a Hot chocolate and listening to Christmas music. While shopping, I use a couple of different cash back tools. I use UPromise, ebates and Big Crumbs. I haven't used ebates as much lately because the percentage that I get back from Big Crumbs is so much better. The money/rebate gets put directly into my Paypal account and it makes it easier to shop using a paypal check out. If you shop or sell online, sign up with this link and start saving too!

Walmart for less than $26.00

After scouring the Meijer ad yesterday and looking at my coupons, I came to the conclusion that this was not a good week to hit Ft. Wayne. So this morning I made a couple of stops (kmart, CVS and Walmart). I went to CVS because they had the Kleenex w/lotion on sale for 89cents- I had 40 cent coupons so I went looking for 4 boxes-- they only had 1 box! I was looking to score free tissues with the help of an 1.98 extra care buck-- OH well, I paid .59 for 1 box of tissue and left. I then headed to Walmart where I had all coupons in hand and picked up the following:

3 boxes of Kleenex (pricematch CVS to .89, use 40 cent coupons= 1.50
7 bxs of General mills cereal (price match to Meijer 1.80 box, had 3.00 coupons= 6.80
4 Del Monte Fruit naturals 9price match to Meijer 1.00 each, had 2.10 coupns = 1.90

2 boxes of Capri sun on roll back 2/3.00
1 multi pack of oreos, 3.50-- now I had a coupon for 2.00 off wyb 2 capri suns and a multi pack so total for juice and cookies: 4.50
2 pkgs of Kotex panti liners 1.00 each, but free after 1.00 cpn -I'm saving these to give to Beaman home- great charity item.
2 Gillette fusion razors - not battery operated - 4.94 each, had 2 4.00 coupons so- 2.00 for those.
4 pkgs of Ortega taco seasoning .58 each, had 75/2 coupons so .68 total for 4
3 bags of Steamfresh Corn 1.23 each, had 1.00 coupons so total .69 for 3 bags
and lastly I bought a pkg of Reeses pieces for Alex's Kindergarten class- They hare having a Halloween day and I get to bring in stuff for decorating sugar cookies- those should be good on top.
All in all my total at Walmart before coupons: $59.87 after coupons: $23.50, add tax and I walked out for $25.68

Now- I also went to Kmart-- I swear sometimes I hate going there too..... anyway-
For 7.00 I got:
3 bags of Licorice (with movie points on them)
1 glade oil air freshener
2 Max factor eyeliners
2 Max factor Lip sticks/gloss
1 4 pack del monte oranges
and a gallon of OVERPRICED 3.76 milk!
The makeup was buy one get one free PLUS I had 2 coupons, 1 for buy one get one free and one for 2.00 off any eye,
I had a free coupon for the air freshener and I had 12.00 in catalina coupons from my previous trip to kmart from glade. I shouldn't have spent that much at kmart, but my lipsticks were 2 different prices and she took only 8.99 off from one of my coupons leaving me to pay 2.00 for 2 lipsticks but I did get another 4.00 catalina from the glade purchase-- I might go back for more makeup-- I need to skim through my coupons! My next trip to kmart will be better-- watch and see!
OH-- and I did stop at Owens for toilet paper-- paid .07 cents for 2 pkgs! I love me some coupons!

Owens Sneak Peak

Ok- the ad comes out tonight, but here is a sneak peak... There were 75cent coupons for Jacks Pizza that came out this past weekend... if you have 4 coupons, you can get 4 pizza's for: 7.00. Not the best deal, but for less than 2.00 a piece- its a decent Saturday lunch for the kiddos-- throw in a 79 cent Sunkist 2-liter and voila... for 3.00 I fed all three boys!-- much cheaper than McDonalds! The Chicken noodle soup and tomato soup is a decent deal if you have the coupons too.
Here is the link--
